ABOUT

About Us

Get ready for liftoff!

The NY Rockabilly Rockets were founded in 2010 on Long Island, NY by lead singer and guitarist John Pitti (“Johnny Rocket”). Initially a trio, he was joined by drummer Dave Phillips (“Stix”) and standup bass man Jay Pavao (“Big J”). Johnny wanted to expand the sound and look of the band, so in 2015 Cyndi Fraser (“Pinup Girl Cyndi”) joined the band adding vocals and tenor sax to this killer rockabilly band. The NY Rockabilly Rockets have launched a successful theatre production tour and produced their second album.

The NY Rockabilly Rockets perform the classic and beloved hits from Sun Records and Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, The Stray Cats, and many other great artists.

What sets them apart from other rockabilly bands is their fast-paced show with non-stop energy, diverse mix of songs and styles, surprise solo spots, crazy and glamorous wardrobe, authentic “rockabilly” gear, and fabulous backdrops. Johnny only plays Gretsch guitars paired with a vintage Tone King amp. You’ll never see him without a flashy jacket and rhinestoned guitar strap. Big J plucks a souped-up upright bass and is known as the laid-back dude wearing the cool shades. Pin-up girl Cyndi is extravagantly decked out in her retro rockabilly hair and bedazzled threads, and plays outrageously mean sax solos while drummer Dave “Stix” tears up the skins in his crazy zebra jacket.

The NY Rockabilly Rockets currently perform throughout the east coast from NY to Central  Florida at theatres, special events, festivals, and popular venues such as The Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, The Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, The Mount Dora Community Theater, Daytona Beach Bike Week, Daytona Beach Biketoberfest, Destination Daytona, Leesburg Bike Festival, Eustis Georgefest, and corporate events. In the spring of 2017, they were the opening act at The Daytona Beach Hard Rock Hotel for the late guitar and surf rock legend Dick Dale.
